Thailand stole my heart

SO I wrote a huge entry a few days ago and it didn't even work :(. I got upset and haven't tried to post anything since. So right now, I'm in Koh Phangan, a beautiful island full of amazing beaches! I am looking at the ocean right now and I wish you could all see how gorgeous this country is. Khao Sok was soo different, it was a pure jungle! We went tubing in a river, saw some snakes, partied in the mountains, spent a night in floating bungalows on a huggee mind blowing clear blue water lake, went elephant trekking and fed some monkeys. So much fun! The people who owned the place we stayed at are by far the nicest most generous people on the whole planet. I am going back there as much as I can for the rest of my life. After that, we traveled to Koh Anthong, our first island/beach! It was very pretty! Full of tourists during the day but they all left around 4ish and then we had the whole island to ourselves (and the staff.) We did a few hikes that were pretty much rock-climbing (deadly), swam, tanned, drank and chased monkeys. The rest of the time we were either eating, sleeping or in our hammocks. Nothing more relaxing than a hammock on the beach! We then took a boat to our next island, Koh Phangan (where I am now) which is a much bigger island but with post-card worthy beaches. Haad Rin is the beach next to ours (where the Full Moon Party will take place tonight!) and it's a fun town to shop and party! We had a day trip to Koh Samui (another island) yesterday, saw some Muay Thai fights yesterday (traditional Thai kick-boxing) which was intense, and have been pretty lazy. I got a bamboo tattoo though! I got a Thai pattern around the Om on my neck. It's beautiful but it was painful! There's so much more to say but I will write more later! I love this country more than words can express! The food is amazingly delicious, we're eating like kings! Everything is also sooo very cheap. A beer costs $1.20 lol! And a bucket is our drink of choice (its a bucket, filled with a whole mickey and then a coke and a red bull, or you can chose your mixes) and its usually 100 Baht, so 3$! I've been shopping like crazy, and my bag is getting heavier and fully by the day! Anyways, it's hot hot hot (every day!!) and I'm covered in sweat 95% of the time here. That means it's time to go swim in the ocean! I'll add more soon! Miss you all!

Pre-departure craziness!

I'm finally leaving Tuesday! Departure is at 8:40 in the morning, flying from Ottawa to Calgary (4 hours), then Calgary to Tokyo (11 hours) and then Tokyo to Bangkok (6.5 hours)! Today is the first time that I've actually started to get organised (thank you procrastination); my bed is covered with all the stuff I plan on bringing (which is always more than what I should bring, so the elimination process must begin!) I got my Visa (which was suppose to cost 35$ but ended up being free!) and my shots from the travel clinic yesterday and for the next 4 days, I will be spending most of my time with friends and family, packing, doing some last minute shopping (of course) and a whole lot of freaking out! I've created this blog for anybody who is interested in knowing what I will be up to for the next two months. Unfortunately for my friends, I will not post everything in both languages but I'll try to alternate between French and English. I think this is way easier than writing everybody emails every time I get to a computer (not that I wouldn't enjoy that, I just doubt I will have enough time and/or energy!)
But, if you want to write me emails, please do and I will try to answer of course! :)
I will also probably try to disconnect myself from the Facebook world while I'm gone. The only things I will be doing most of the time is updating is my status, reading and writing messages and adding pictures when I can.
I have created a Skype account also and I will be using Skype as much as I can! My username is "marie.pier.d89" for those who will want to webcam chat with me :)
One other note: my cell phone will be disconnected for the duration of my entire trip and I will not have it on me until August 10th, when I get home.
I hope you guys keep reading (it will get more interesting than this, I promise lol) and my next post will be posted from the Thai capital: Bangkok! And please don't be shy to comment, I've never blogged before and I would enjoy some signs of life so I don't feel I'm writing for myself!
I wish you all a great summer!
And off I go!
